Teen Miles Morales becomes Spider-Man of his reality, crossing his path with five counterparts from another dimensions to stop a threat for all realities.
When Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse started showing at cinemas, many referred to it as not just the best superhero movie of 2018, but the best movie of the entire year. That’s saying a lot judging from the fact that not only is it the seventh cinematic Spider-Man adaptation and that it was up against the likes of Marvel’s 10th year cinematic event – Avengers: Infinity War – but it’s also an animated movie.
2018 saw the likes of Avengers: Infinity War and Aquaman, both which raked in $2B and $1B respectively, but they both got nothing on the critical reviews Into the Spider-verse raked in.
To many fans, the idea of having more than one Spider-Man swinging about walls in a movie sounds weird; but this movie made it appealing. It took an unusual material and made something glorious, yet very relatable, out of it.
I dare say it’s the best Spider-Man movie yet.
All the characters were well fleshed, but my favorite’s easily ALL OF THEM 😁. I loved them all, couldn’t choose a favorite. That’s to give more credence to the wonderful job from everyone involved in production.
A sequel and a spin-off have been commissioned. So, if you really enjoyed this movie, fret not, we aren’t saying goodbye to this universe just yet.
Side note: I really loved the Doc-Oc reveal.
