Rinzy Reviews ‘Marvel’s The Punisher’

Rinzy Reviews ‘Marvel’s The Punisher’
The Netflix corner of Marvel has always been praised for its realism and gritty take on superheroes. With ‘The Punisher’, Marvel makes its best show grounded in so much realism.

I loved ‘The Punisher’ because of Jon Bernthal take on it; a film production is only as good as its cast and story – both requirements check out.
Frank Castle the raging killer was given humanity, depth and his zeal to kill wasn’t toned down.

Though the show had more episodes than necessary (13 seemed much), it was a very good watch.

I loved the supporting casts – Ben Barnes’ Billy Russo made an interesting villain, Agent Medina was a piece of work, Micro was good, and a host of others. I was excited to see Deborah Ann Wool’s Karen Page.
I enjoyed the show and I hope the next time I see Frank Castle in the MCU, he’s killing lots of people mercilessly.

Rinzy Reviews Crisis on Earth-X

SPOILER!!!
WTF! Victor Garber’s send forth could only be realized by killing off his character Martin Stein…. why?

On this note I begin my review of 2017’s Arrowverse massive crossover.

Ever since ‘The Flash’ was spun out of Arrow in 2014, the Arrowverse has continue to grow with more characters added to its ever growing list and its crossover becoming more and more ambitious. This year’s wasn’t an exception. It’s the best so far.

A lot of things happened. We had the disaster wedding of the moment, courtesy of Nazi soldier’s from Earth-X interrupting Barry and Iris. We also had them getting married at the end courtesy of John Diggle, with a spoiler, Oliver and Felicity also got married… I didn’t see that coming.

We got to see evil doppelgangers of our heroes and the return of the Reverse Flash. I think the producers have gotten tired of explaining his return, so much, that they just skipped it, on purpose, this time. Barry needs his Eobard, this we know, it’ll be easier if they just stopped killing and rewriting him.

I enjoyed the crossover. An article from ‘Screen rant’ said it was a better DC team up than the cinema-released Justice League. Ouch!

The stakes keep getting bigger, more expensive, I really wonder what they’ll do next year.

All shows in the Arrowverse return for their mid season finales next week.

‘House Of Cards’ To Resume Production On Its Sixth And Final Season

‘House of Cards’ to resume production on its sixth and final season early next month.
Following the needs of several sexual allegations levelled against lead Kevin Spacey, he was fired and the show’s production subsequently halted.

With this letter, we can rest again knowing production will resume shortly… without Spacey of course.

Here’s the letter.

Dear Cast and Crew,

As we move into the holidays, we want to express our appreciation for all of the meaningful messages of support we have received from you and want to update all of our loyal cast and crew on our progress and where things currently stand.

We continue to work with Netflix with the hope of resuming production soon. As we continue these discussions, we have determined together that the crew will be paid for an additional two week hiatus – beginning on November 27th and continuing through December 8th.

In addition to the writers, there will be a small contingency of office/accounting staff who will remain in the production office on a continuous basis. Our hope is that the entire crew will be able to reconvene when production resumes, but we want you to know that we will certainly understand if crew members need to find other work in the interim, which will prevent them from re-joining us. We sincerely appreciate all you have done.

Cast and other union members who are not actively working will be paid in accordance with applicable union guidelines through this period and we will be reaching out directly to your representatives to work through the details; we will get to everyone as quickly as possible and appreciate all of your patience here.

These last two months have tested and tried all of us in ways none of us could have foreseen. The one thing we have learned throughout this process is that this production is bigger than just one person and we could not be more proud to be associated with one of the most loyal and talented production cast and crews in this business.

We will provide an additional update by 12/8/17.

Thank you all.

I Fear For The Wedding Party 2

So, yesterday, I was opportune to watch an extended trailer for The Wedding Party 2 (#TWP2)… and I wasn’t happy.
Why?
Because it seemed like a remake of everything that happened in part one with the inclusion of ‘Destination Dubai’.

Character’s played by Saka, Emma oh my God, Beverely Naya, and a few others, shouldn’t be found in this sequel, we want new characters to love!

I believe this is a problem that continually plagues Nigerian’s artistry: the inability to remain creative after money has been made. Lots of artists suffer from this.

I’ll just pause my ranting here until the movie is out in cinemas, Dec. 15 is the date. I’m waiting.

I do hope I’m wrong, I so want this sequel to work: it’ll help strengthen Nollywood’s image.

Rinzy Reviews Justice League (2017) – SPOILER FREE!

I finally saw Justice League. Lord knows I loved everything about the movie, which makes me wonder why Rotten Tomato critically panned it. The movie has a unique blend of background darkness and humour, which I loved.

Ezra Millar stands out for me as a bright spot as The Flash… my love for him since ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ just doubled.

The movie was dark enough for me not to notice Henry Cavil’s Superman’s digitally removed moustache that was complained about.

Gal Gadot (as Diana Prince/ Wonder Woman) was a darling as always; she remains the heart of the DCEU. (Themyscira also featured in this movie).

Cyborg was good. Batfleck was also good.

I loved Aquaman’s humour…

There were lots of Easter eggs, including one about a race of green ring-wearing heroes and another one I’ll let remain a secret (I shouted at the cinema once I saw it).

There was a brief fight scene that blew my mind… you’ll recognize it once you see it.

Make sure you stick around for the mid credit and post credit scenes, they’re mind blowing.

I really enjoyed watching this movie. If you haven’t, you should go check it out soon.

Kevin Spacey Replaced In ‘All The Money In The World’

News that broke out this morning is, Kevin Spacey’s been replaced by Christopher Plummer in the Ridley Scott’s movie, All The Money In The World, scheduled for a December release.

With the breakout of various sexual assault allegations against Spacey, so many things have gone wrong for him in the last one week since they began: Netflix and House of Cards sacked him and now this.

Report has it that Ridley Scott is willing to reshoot all scenes containing former lead, Spacey and replace them with Plummer, a move that’s been approved by the co-stars and financiers.

Rinzy Reviews Films: The Most Exciting Films To Look Out For This Month

Hello! Welcome to my small corner here, where we’ll be talking about your favorite foreign and local films (movies and TV shows) as they affect the blogosphere. My name is Rinzy and I welcome you to join me on this ride as we have a wonderful time.

Today’s the first Friday in November and I’m so excited, two of the most anticipated new movies of this year 2017 will be available in cinemas this month, starting today, with ‘Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok’ leading the way.

Thor: Ragnarok

Thor Ragnarok.jpg

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is the third installment in the solo outing of the Asgardian god. Directed by Taika Waititi, this movie that completes the MCU’s Thor trilogy and takes a more colorful approach, different from the two installments before it.

Judging by critics’ early reviews, Thor: Ragnarok is a hit for Marvel, the brighter colors and infusion of greater amount of comedy sets it apart from its predecessors, not to also talk about the addition of everyone’s favorite green guy –these give credence to the new direction the Thor franchise has taken, it’s a welcome development.

Not to forget, Thor: Ragnarok has some major implications for the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) moving forward, as the MCU approaches its last days heading into the ‘Infinity War’ scheduled for a release in 2018, Thor: Ragnarok will provide useful information for we the viewers ahead of the massive team up. I really can’t wait to watch this movie. I think I should do so tomorrow.

Justice League

Justice League.jpg

The second big thing to hit the cinema this month is none other than a movie from Marvel’s biggest rival since the early days of its comic book publications, the DCEU’s answer to the MCU’s Avenger (2012) – Justice League, to be premiered come November 17.

This movie is the first ensemble movie by the relatively new DCEU (DC Extended Universe) that hasn’t had much critical success like its counterpart, asides from Wonder Woman (2017), no other movie in the DCEU has achieved universal appeal and praise [I don’t know if you still remember Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)?] This kind of record puts so much pressure on Justice League to perform very well, the future of the DCEU might as well be said to depend on it.

Personally, I’m pumped up for this movie for many reasons, I want to see Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck again in action as Wonder Woman and Batman respectively; I definitely need to see human demigod Jason Momoa in his Aquaman debut, he’s been the star of every trailer and cover art I’ve seen.

Many might by expecting me to mention Ezra Millar’s Flash, but I won’t, The CW’s direction with The Flash TV show has caused me fatigue with the character, this means that Justice League has to make Barry Allen/ The Flash more appealing for me to be invested in his solo movie ‘Flashpoint’ scheduled for 2020.

Enough of movies, let’s talk November TV shows. The two shows expected to shake the internet this month, fortunately or unfortunately, are staples of Marvel (the MCU), and they are – ‘Marvel’s The Punisher’ and ‘Marvel’s Runaways’. These shows, which will have every episode in their debut seasons available to be binge-watched on their respective streaming networks –Netflix and Hulu– are conscious efforts of The MCU to continue expanding on TV. The MCU domination of TV started in 2013 with Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on the American TV station ‘ABC’ and has continued to expand ever since.

Marvel’s The Punisher

The Punisher.jpg

‘The Punisher’ is expected on November 17, same day as the theatrical release of Justice League, and as I said before, every one of its 13 episodes will be available on Netflix for instant streaming.

For those conversant with the MCU, you’ll remember that The Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal of ‘The Walking Dead’ fame) was in the second season of Daredevil (2015 – till date), the character resonated so well with the masses due to the way Bernthal portrayed him that he was given a solo outing that’ll give more depth to his backstory, letting, we, the viewers know what makes The Punisher tick.

Those conversant with the character already know to expect plenty violence, gore and maiming will be the order of the day, as they are trademarks of The Punisher; the show is definitely not intended for children.

Marvel’s Runaways

Runaways

Unlike its sibling, ‘Marvel’s Runaways’ will be taking so many different approaches. First off, it’s release will be through another streaming site in ‘Hulu’ and the story is focused on the central theme of family. A brief synopsis describes it as a story that unfolds when a group of teenagers with powers find out that their parents are villains, and most do everything within the reach of their superhuman powers to foil their plan. This sounds like a show the family can enjoy together to me.

Be thou as it may, comic books inspired films are gaining more grounds as time goes by; I don’t think they’ll be a greater time to be a comic book fan other than now.

What do you think of the films we’ve talked about today? Is there any film you’ve been anticipating this month? Talk to me in the comment box below, I’ll love to hear from you.
